SEA Structure

The Metal Finishing Association (MFA), British Surface Treatment Suppliers Association (BSTSA), the Paint and Powder Finishing Association (PPFA), and the Contract Heat Treatment Association (CHTA), have collectively joined together under the umbrella of the Surface Engineering Association (SEA) to form a powerful focus and voice for the surface engineering industry. It is envisaged that over time other surface engineering sector trade associations will join under the umbrella of the SEA to widen our scope and to provide more strength to our position within the engineering industry.

This consolidation has allowed two key strategies to be put into place:

  • The SEA functions as the industry forum where issues of health, safety, the environment, training, best practice initiatives and marketing can be debated and acted upon. The SEA also acts as the focal point for contact for the industry on matters of legislation and government support for all sponsored activities.
  • The member trade associations MFA, BSTSA, PPFA, and CHTA function separately in the management of the issues that are unique to their members and to provide help and support for them and their customers.
