Contract Heat Treatment Association
The trade association for those whose main activity is the provision of subcontract heat treatment services, the Contract HeatTreatment Association speaks for over 70 UK companies representing about 70% of contract processing capacity in Great Britain.
Formed in 1973 to promote the business of heat treatment by specialist contractors, the Association has also been responsible for upgrading and maintaining standards in the industry. Various committees deal with technical, administrative and publicity matters. CHTA recently became affiliated with the Surface Engineering Association.
CHTA publications include the quarterly ‘Hotline’ newsletter and the valuable ‘Buyers Guide to Contract HeatTreatment’, currently in its 10th Edition. Amongst other things, CHTA’s new website (www.chta.co.uk) now provides an automated search facility for those seeking appropriate contract heat treatment facilities. It also offers down-loadable ‘Datasheets for Non-heat treaters’ to assist the engineering community in selecting, specifying and designing for heat treatment processes.
