12 September 2012

As with most manufacturing industry, Swinton endured a massive downturn in 2009.  In order to reduce the impact of any future down turns, the company decided to put more attention into diversification into other markets.  MD Godfrey Evans enrolled the business on to the UKTI's (UK Trade & Industry Investment) "Passport to Export " programme which provided invaluable guidance in how to win overseas business.  A multi-lingual website was set up which has generated enquiries.

The 12 month programme was highlighted when Godfrey joined a Trade Mission to Russia for the Moscow International Oil & Gas Exhibition where he exchanged contracts to supply services to a new customer.  The Mission also had meetings with senior political figures in the region of Kazan and, most notably, the First Minister of Energy.  At the end of the programme, exports represented almost 20% of Swinton'sbusiness.
