End of the road for chromium trioxide???

The UK Government went to the recent meeting regarding the authorisation of a number of chromium compounds with the aim of negotiating longer last application and sunset dates. Unfortunately many of the other EU Member States accepted the Commission's final offer of 35 months for the last application date and 53 months for the sunset dates and so this was approved by qualified majority voting. This decision will now be forwarded to the European Parliament for a period of 3 months scrutiny before coming into force some time around March 2013. This means that you will not be able to use these chromium compounds unless an authorisation is in place by around June 2018.
