23 June 2014

Midlands based PPS offers a bespoke stainless steel polishing service to clients worldwide complemented with brass, copper, bronze and aluminium processes.

Midlands based PPS offers a bespoke stainless steel polishing service to clients worldwide complemented with brass, copper, bronze and aluminium processes.  Founded in 1983 the company has grown to a million pound plus a year turnover, involving some 20,000 tonnes of metal processed a year. A recent major investment in two new polishing lines facilitated achieving a goal of reducing bright polishing lead times from two to three weeks to two to three days and boosting turnover by 20%. PPS MD is Kirsty Davies-Chinnock, BA, MA who joined in 1989 for six weeks planning to study Law at Cambridge and never left, progressing through the company to become general manager and director and ultimately MD in 2008. In 2009 she won the Attwood award for contribution to manufacturing and two years later PPS received a Manufacturing Excellence award from the Express & Star in association with the Manufacturing Advisory Service.

PPS has won a contract to polish hundreds of intricate laser cut profiles for a London hospital. Each has a unique design so PPS has to identify each one clearly to ensure installation runs smoothly. MD Kirsty Davies-Chinnock comments: “It is an absolute pleasure to be working with such beautiful designs and our  operators can be really proud of the part they play in this prestigious project.”  Kirsty says PPS has joined the SEA because “we are keen to work with associations which work to further the benefit manufacturing has on the UK. We believe the SEA is an organisation which will provide practical benefits to our business with knowledge share transfer and we look forward to reciprocating by being active members.”
