Shared Parental Leave

There are a number of employment law reforms coming in 2015, which employers should be aware of.

The legislation governing Shared Parental Leave came into force on 1 December 2014 and applies to parents of children due to be born or placed for adoption on or after 5 April 2015.

Under the new Shared Parental Leave regime, both parents (if eligible) will be able to share maternity / adoption leave and the associated pay called Shared Parental Pay.  However, they will not be able to share compulsory maternity leave (2 weeks, or four weeks for factory workers).
