4. Stay well informed
The SEA has representation on many UK and EU committees where legislation / standards and codes of practice are developed. We can advise you of the latest and forthcoming legislation / regulations that may impact on your business.

5. Certification & Standards
With constant changes occurring in the workplace, standards will continually need updating and you'll need to know your organisation is in sound standing. The SEA will help keep you informed and assist you in meeting those requirements.

6. Business Bulletins
The SEA publishes regular Business Bulletins concerning the industry sector to which all members are invited to contribute. This service is not available to non-members. The SEA also assists in the production of industry wide statistical information for various Government departments.

7. Buyers' Guide & Website
All members receive free entry into the SEA Buyers' Guide that is distributed throughout the Engineering Industry. The Buyers Guide provides the only clear route to guide buyers, designers and specifiers to industry specialists who can satisfy their surface engineering needs. All members also receive a free listing on the SEA web-site with links to their own web-site where applicable.

8. Sector Climate Change Agreement Scheme
The SEA is able to negotiate on behalf of members and non-members with DECC for entry into a climate change agreement. Participating companies can claim a reduction of up to 80% of the tax levy they pay on energy use. To be eligible, companies must commit to meeting energy saving targets over the coming years. SEA rates of subscription to this scheme are highly competitive and savings usually exceed the cost of membership.

9. Customer Confidence
Membership of the SEA gives end user customers confidence in dealing with a company that is prepared to abide by a code of conduct. The SEA, in consultation with the Environment Agency and Health & Safety Executive, published the Code of Best Practice for the Surface Finishing Industry 2001.
