Who would have thought back in March 2020, when schools closed, offices and industry went into lockdown and we were all asked to stay home that it would be over 12 months before we saw the start of the return to a lasting normality?
As 2021 progresses and the Covid-19 vaccine continues to roll out across the UK we can all take a moment to review the last 12 months and what we have endured and achieved as a country and as an industry, and I believe congratulate ourselves on a job well done.

Although we are not out of the woods yet, we can see that much promised light at the end of the tunnel and thoughts turn to the future, whether it be the future of our businesses or just the opening of the pubs! But it is not just Covid that we have dealt with, many companies are facing difficulties with Brexit, particularly shipping of goods and understanding of paperwork and this will continue to pose challenges through the coming months. The SEA has been working during this time to get information out and to keep in touch with our members. Our first webinar of 2021 focused on UK Reach, and provided information for those needing it. We are working to provide a programme of these webinars and I would urge you to look out for invites.
We have also sent out fact sheets on UK Reach & Chromium Trioxide and are currently developing a UK Reach strategy with our partners in the HSE and in Westminster, on which we will update shortly. I hope by my next ‘Chairman’s Letter’ that the pandemic in the UK will be greatly reduced, and we are able to start planning for more face to face functions, but in the meantime the SEA is here to support you.
